FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask about GlobalBoost and BSTY, in plain language.
The basics
What is GlobalBoost (BSTY)?
GlobalBoost is a public proof-of-work blockchain that has been producing blocks since 2014. BSTY is its native coin: it moves value on-chain, pays transaction fees and rewards the miners who secure the network. See Coinomics.
When did GlobalBoost launch?
The genesis block was mined on July 20, 2014. The project was announced on the Bitcointalk forum on September 8, 2014. Read the full History.
Who runs GlobalBoost?
No single person or company. Like Bitcoin, it was launched under a pseudonym, GlobalToshi, and runs on its community of miners, node operators, builders and holders. See the Team page.
Is GlobalBoost still active?
Yes. More than 600,000 blocks have been mined and new ones arrive about every 10 minutes. Watch them live on the Xplorer or on the home page.
Is the code open source?
Yes. The core node and wallet code is public on GitHub, so anyone can read, build and check it.
Supply and coinomics
Is there a premine?
No. The project describes its 2014 launch as mining-led, with no ICO, no premine and no insider allocation. Every coin was mined from the first block onward, which you can check in the block explorer.
Was there an ICO?
No. BSTY has never been sold in an ICO or token sale. New coins are only created as block rewards for miners.
What's the max supply?
About 30 million BSTY. An older coinomics article lists 30.08 million. More than 24 million have been mined so far; the Coinomics page shows the live figure.
How do halvings work?
After the launch era (347 BSTY per block until block 17,290), the reward halves every 240,000 blocks: 50 → 25 → 12.5 → 6.25 BSTY and onward, until new issuance fades out around 2050. See the halving table on the History page.
What is the block time?
About 10 minutes per block, the same target as Bitcoin. The home page shows the live average.
Buying and wallets
Where can I buy BSTY?
On Biconomy (BSTY/USDT), Dex-Trade (BSTY/USDT) and FreiExchange (BSTY/BTC). Only use these official links.
Where can I check the BSTY price?
On CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, and in the price bar at the top of this site.
Which wallet should I use?
The official desktop wallet, GlobalBoost-Qt. You can also build it yourself from the source code.
How do I back up my wallet?
In the desktop wallet use File → Backup Wallet, keep copies on offline drives in more than one safe place, and encrypt the wallet with a strong password. Anyone with your wallet file and password can spend your coins.
Mining
Can I mine BSTY?
Yes. BSTY uses Yescrypt, a memory-hard proof-of-work algorithm that ordinary CPUs can mine. Follow our step-by-step Mining guide for Windows and Linux.
What software do I need to mine?
A CPU miner such as cpuminer-opt or cpuminer-yescrypt, a BSTY wallet address, and a pool.
Which mining pools support BSTY?
Do I need special hardware (ASICs)?
No. Yescrypt is designed to be memory-hard, so ordinary CPUs can still take part. That keeps mining open to more people.
Safety and the network
How can I avoid scams?
No one will DM you first, there are no official giveaways, and no one needs your keys or wallet file. Only use the exchange and download links on this site, and double-check every address before sending.
How do I look up a transaction or block?
Paste it into the Xplorer or the GlobalBoost-Y Block Explorer.
How can I help the network?
Mine, run a full node by keeping the official wallet open and synced, build on the chain using the open-source code, or share what you learn.
Where can I find GlobalBoost news?
On our News page and the original Bitcointalk thread.
