GlobalBoost
Developer docs

Build on GlobalBoost.

Connect to the network, run your own full node and talk to it over JSON-RPC. GlobalBoost-Y is open source and based on the Bitcoin Core codebase, so most Bitcoin tooling works with small changes.

01

Connect to the network

These values come straight from the GlobalBoost-Y source code.

SettingMainnetTestnet
P2P port822618226
RPC port822518225
Address prefix (bech32)gb1…tb1…
AlgorithmYescryptYescrypt
Target block time10 minutes10 minutes

DNS seeds your node uses to find peers:

  • seeder.globalboost.info
  • seeder2.globalboost.info
  • seeder3.globalboost.info
  • dnsseed.globalboost.cc

To add a peer by hand, put this in your config file:

addnode=seeder.globalboost.info:8226
02

Build from source (Linux)

Install build tools, then compile. This follows the standard Bitcoin Core build steps.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y build-essential libtool autotools-dev automake pkg-config bsdmainutils python3 \
  libevent-dev libboost-dev libsqlite3-dev git
git clone https://github.com/GlobalBoost/GlobalBoost-Y.git
cd GlobalBoost-Y
./autogen.sh
./configure --without-gui
make -j$(nproc)

See the doc folder for Windows, macOS and full dependency notes.

03

Run a full node

Create a config file in your data folder (~/.globalboost/globalboost.conf on Linux):

server=1
listen=1
txindex=1
rpcuser=changeme
rpcpassword=use-a-long-random-password
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

Start the node and check that it's syncing:

./src/globalboostd -daemon
./src/globalboost-cli getblockchaininfo
./src/globalboost-cli getconnectioncount

Open port 8226 on your firewall so other nodes can reach you. Never expose the RPC port to the internet.

04

Talk to your node over RPC

The node speaks the same JSON-RPC as Bitcoin Core on port 8225.

curl --user changeme --data-binary \
  '{"jsonrpc":"1.0","id":"docs","method":"getblockcount","params":[]}' \
  -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://127.0.0.1:8225/

Don't want to run a node? Use the public explorer API.
